Through One

“Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people.  For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.” Romans 5:18 -19 NIV

Yesterday morning in my quiet time I came across the verses in Romans written above.  As I read them I felt the Holy Spirit show me just how much influence and change can happen through one person. There is power in one.  I understand that there is  power in many and that scripture teaches that two are better than one (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).  However I believe Romans 5:18-19 show us just how much power one has.

Through one trespass condemnation came to all people.   Through one righteous act,  justification and life were made possible for all men.  With the power of God in our lives, you and I have the possibility to make one choice at a time that can make an eternal difference.

One can pray.

One can love.

One can meet a need.

One can obey.

One can listen.

One can speak up.

One can choose Gods peace.

One can choose not to conform to the world but to Christ.

One can point one to Christ.

Let’s not forget the influence, power, and potential we have through One (Phil. 4:13).

This is great, PJ. What hit me the most was that one can obey and one can listen. How insulting is it to God when he tries to speak to us and we don’t listen? Or when he has a blessing for us but we don’t obey so don’t receive it? Thanks for sharing this.
