“Again the Israelites cried out to the LORD, and he gave them a deliverer—Ehud, a left-handed man, the son of Gera the Benjamite….At the idols near Gilgal he himself turned back and said, “I have a secret message for you, O king.” Ehud then approached him while he was sitting alone in the upper room of his summer palace and said, “I have a message from God for you.” As the king rose from his seat, Ehud reached with his left hand, drew the sword from his right thigh and plunged it into the king’s belly. Even the handle sank in after the blade, which came out his back. Ehud did not pull the sword out, and the fat closed in over it.” Judges 3:15 & 19-22
When was the last time God showed you something wrong in your life and you took radical action to remove it?
In other words what are the obstacles in your life that need to be removed in order for you to get where God wants you to be?
For Israel, King Eglon was an obstacle keeping their nation from having peace. In order for Israel to be what God wanted them to be and arrive where God wanted them to arrive, Eglon would have to be removed. Who would remove the obstacle? Ehud. Not only did Ehud take out Eglon, but he also led the battle against the Moabites that gave Israel 80 years of peace (Judges 3:28-30).
Ehud removed the obstacles that were keeping he and his people from arriving where the Lord wanted them to be.
God has a purpose and a plan for your life. He has a purpose, plan, and destiny for your career, marriage, relationships, education, finances and every other area of your life! Yes, God desires to be not just first in your life, but in the center of all things in your life.
What’s the obstacle keeping you from getting there? Is it an anger problem? Is it lack of motivation? Is it frustration? Lack of discipline? Sleeping in too late? Not leaving enough margin in your finances or schedule? Is it an addiction? Maybe selfishness?
We all have obstacles (aka weaknesses). But, we also all have an abundant life God want’s to give us and want’s to see us live out. Satan loves to keep us from experiencing that life by making us surrender to the obstacles.
I challenge you today. Surrender no longer. Lead the battle and drive the sword deep into the belly of your obstacle. Aim for victory.
God’s love, passion, and purpose for you are bigger and better than the obstacle beating you down.
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37
